Reinterpretation of the filter section of the legendary Synton Syrinx. Gyrinx is a 3-formant filter consisting of two BP filters and one LP filter plus four-channel mixer and switchable routings.
Gyrinx is not a direct clone of the incompletely documented Syrinx filter, whose core component - the CEM3350 chip - has only recently become available again as a replica.
Gyrinx uses this new AS3350 IC and offers two 2-pole peak filters and one 4-pole low-pass filter, each with its own resonance control. Four selectable routing schemes determine the connection between the four input signals and the filters. This allows parallel and serial patching of the two peak and the lowpass filter. Six CV inputs (three for peak and three for lowpass) can be used for modulating this unconventional and nice sounding formant filter.
