Somewhere in Australia Forge Time sits and creates this special module for us. VHIKK X is an algorithm based module, with wavetable oscillators as the sound source, well chosen parameters to shape these oscillators and an effects section to finalize these sounds. The sound plate is incredibly wide, ranging from highly complex, ever-changing drones, to multi-layered chords, basses and everything you can think of in terms of noise, glitches and effects.
With Vhikk X, the manufacturer has paid special attention to playability. You don't need to know what's happening, and you should be able to get good results even with your eyes closed.

The module consists of two main parts, the sound generator (Generator) in the left part and the sound processor (Processor) in the right part. VHIKK X is an algorithm-based module and the given parameters can behave differently depending on the selected program. However, the parameters with potentiometers are always related to their labels, which give you an idea of what happens when you turn a knob. Choosing the algorithm is done via the two switches at the top, which allow a total of 9 different combinations. Furthermore, the bank button allows you to switch between 4 different algorithm banks for a total of 36 different sound programs. So far, Vhikk X comes with one bank but will have regular additions to keep you surprised.

The generator parameters include Warp, Span, Morph and Fuse and allow you to do cross-modulation, oscillator detuning, and various forms of timbre alteration. The generated sound then passes through the Field parameter. This is a useful lowpass-highpass filter combo.
The Processor parameters have a Dry/Wet mix and Feedback parameter, as well as various ways of altering the sound and shifting the frequency.
Additionally, there are two encoders at your disposal. These have two functions each, which is not as complicated as it may sound. By pressing a button you can switch between the two parameters. Which parameter is currently editable is made clear by the illuminated label. You have Base and Time as well as Seed and Scan to adjust pitch, amplitude or delay settings.

In addition to its stereo output, VHIKK X also has a stereo input. This allows you to process external signals through the module. It's a true stereo path(!) and the pretty LED strips above it visualize your levels.

VHIKK X is a full voice in itself (thanks to internal stereo VCA) and can be wonderfully placed in a case by itself. The many CV inputs, however, allow and almost require you to feed the module with the available waves from your other modules.VHIKK X sounds uniquely complex and due to its playable and clear design is a very inspiring module for everything from ambient to techno.
