DPW Design DC1 — A Great DIY Solution for Cleaner Power and a Quieter Eurorack System
A clean and stable power supply is the foundation of any well-behaved Eurorack system. Switched power supplies, while efficient, can sometimes introduce unwanted high-frequency ripple into your power rails. This can manifest as noise in the audio path or instability in digital modules.
The DC1 by DPW Design is an effective solution to this problem. It’s a passive dual DC filter designed to sit between your switched power supply and your busboards. Its job is to specifically target and attenuate the noise and ripple that can occur, particularly in the audible range around 1kHz and higher. With its substantial-looking components, the DC1 is built to handle serious current—up to 5A on both the +12V and -12V rails, which is enough for several rows of modules.
If you're building a DIY case or want to improve the performance of your existing rack, the DC1 is a simple and high-quality addition that ensures your modules are getting the clean power they need to perform their best.
Features:
- Dual passive DC filter for Eurorack power systems
- Removes ripple and noise from switched power supplies
- Handles up to 5A on both +/-12V rails (4A recommended)
- Designed to heavily attenuate ripple in the 1kHz audio range and above
- A rather easy DIY project requiring basic soldering skills
- Connects between the power supply and busboards
- Minimal voltage drop (Max 0.2V at 5A)
Note: You can find instructions on how to install the DC1 in your system in the manual provided here below.
