The M4 Controller from The Man With The Machine offers four motorized faders for the Droid Master.

Under each fader is a touch button and an LED that shows the current status. The special feature of the motorized faders is that each fader can be assigned multiple functions or presets. When the function is switched, the fader moves exactly to the position that corresponds to the current value. The usual "tapping" of potentiometers or faders, where you never know exactly what value is currently set, is thus a thing of the past.

The motorized faders can represent any resolution and function, for example, as switches, notes from a scale or waveforms of synthesizers, etc.. The resolution can actually be felt haptically as a gradation since the fader creates an artificial notch through its motor. Even the operation as a pitch bend wheel with automatic return to the center position is possible. In this case, the motorized faders create a kind of "artificial spring".

Motorized faders are power-hungry. The M4 unit, therefore, comes with four large current tanks (called Super Caps) that are charged with a low current but provide full power when the faders need it. In this way, the maximum current of an M4 unit is limited. Jumpers on the back let you choose between a peak current of 350, 450, 500, or 600 mA.
