Finally, your own Eurorack Eclipse! A stereo oscillator by Black Noise Modular with tons of useful functions
After a long refinement process, the oscillator from Black Noise Modular makes a polished impression. It's a triangle-core VCO that tracks across 10 octaves, shaped by a custom-developed waveshaper and loaded with functionality.
There are 5 separate outputs for the classic waveforms sine, triangle, saw and pulse, morph-square, plus a sub-oscillator output. But the exciting part of Eclipse is its stereo output. The stereo outputs are connected to the Spread control, which offers 3 selectable modes via the switch just above the knob:
- MorphX – signal from the waveshaper, with Spread acting like a ring modulator
- SPSM (Stereo Pulsed Saw Modulation) – V-Square and Saw outputs mixed via Spread
- SPAM (Stereo Pulse Array Modulation) – V-Square and Pulse outputs mixed via Spread
Using the two lower switches along with the Morph and Spread parameters, you can dial in extremely useful results, ranging from slow timbral clouds to dizzying stereo arpeggios.
Eclipse also includes an LFO that goes from veeeery slow all the way into the audio range, as well as the Star mode, which turns Eclipse into a fully fledged mono voice. In this mode, Spread becomes a bipolar VCA, enabling amplitude and ring modulation.
