Bjooks - Inspire The Music
- Order number: 220467
Inspire The Music is Kim Bjorn's (Bjooks) latest strike and gives a 400-page insight into the fascinating 50-year history of the legendary Roland company.
Since 1972, Roland has shaped the music and synthesizer world with its innovative power, which is intensively examined in the new Bjooks book Inspire The Music.
The focus is not exclusively on the famous x0x series, although its formative supporters such as DJ Pierre (TB-303) or Egyptian Lover (TR-808) have their say, as does Sister Bliss (Faithless), who provides an insight into how the legendary "Insomnia" pizzicato sound came about on the JD 800. But not only exclusively electronic acts are featured, but also the formative role of Space Echo RE-201 for Jamaican dub culture, the Octapad's influence on Indian music(!). Of course, more modern trends such as the invention of the MC 303 groovebox trendsetter to the Aira series and the Roland Cloud series plugins are also mentioned.
In all, over 90 interviews with artists, innovators and others with the company founded by Ikutarō Kakehashi are in focus, including such illustrious names as Jean-Michel Jarre, Johnny Marr (The Smiths), Guy Fletcher (Dire Straits), Billy Duffy (The Cult), Clive Deamer (Radiohead), Nick Rhodes (Duran Duran) and Howard Jones. Hit producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis (Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey and Usher) contribute the foreword to this informative work.
