Bastl Instruments - Déjà vu

Bastl's Déjà Vu is a dual-channel fader utility for voltage processing, mixing, crossfading and signal boosting. Two faders, a few switches, and a whole lot of flexibility once you get going.

The idea is simple — give each channel a main input, a secondary input, and a mode switch that changes how the fader interacts with them. Set it to attenuate, attenuvert, or crossfade between the two signals. When nothing is plugged into the main input, the fader becomes a voltage source on its own — useful for offsets, manual CV, or biasing whatever arrives at the second input. A gain switch scales things up to 2x or 10x, the latter functioning as a low-noise preamp that can bring line-level signals into Eurorack range. Push the gain hard and the Zener diodes on the output will soft-clip your signal in a nice musical way.

Of course, it also comes with some clever normalizations. Leave channel A's output unpatched and it sums into channel B — so with all four inputs in use, you've got yourself a mixer. On the back, jumpers let you chain multiple units together or link up with other Bastl modules like Aikido and Buddy for larger mixing setups. The cascading behavior and gain range are both reconfigurable via those same jumpers, so you can tailor things to your system.

Bastl positions this as a companion to their Neo Trinity, but it should work in just about any rack that needs a compact, hands-on way to scale, offset, mix or crossfade signals. Attenuator, attenuverter, crossfader, preamp, panner, voltage source, line-level converter, four-channel mixer — all from two faders and a few switches. Hard to argue with that!
