Apollo View VAMP — Tube-Driven Multi-Mode Filter in 8HP
VAMP from Apollo View is a compact multimode filter built around a 12AU7 vacuum tube and a Sallen-Key topology. The tube gets split into two roles: one half handles input saturation, the other lives in the resonance feedback path with MS-20-style clipping, here with atube and not diodes. You get three filter modes (low-pass, band-pass, high-pass) and a sound that ranges from transparent filtering to full-on tube distortion depending on how hard you drive it.
Apollo View already worked with the same 12AU7 configuration in their Rabbit Hole mixer, so they already know how to make tubes behave in Eurorack. The Flow toggle switches the built-in VCA between pre- and post-filter placement, which changes how the dynamics interact with the resonance stage. There's also a three-way output clipper (off/soft/hard) that adds another layer of distortion options. Push the resonance up and VAMP self-oscillates with 1V/Oct tracking, turning it into a crude VCO with tube character. CV inputs cover VCA gain, frequency modulation, and resonance.
In case you're on the hunt for a tube-filter capable of adding everything from a touch of warmth to savage harmonic destruction, this is definitely one to check out!
