The Tyso Daiko is a 12-bit digital wavetable drum module with two voice outputs: one sent through a digital wavefolder and the other through an analog EQ.
The two voices are triggered and output independently, but share the basic parameters pitch, envelope and some others. One voice is output via a voltage-controlled analog tilt EQ that emphasizes the upper or lower frequencies. The other voice is output through a digital wavefolder that makes the timbre more complex, with results ranging from very subtle to noise. Both outputs complement each other very well, whether triggered simultaneously or independently.
To allow dynamic interaction between the two voices, they respond to the Accent input in different ways: for the first voice, this extends the release time while simultaneously shortening that of the second voice. In addition, Tyso Daiko achieves a nice rhythmic dynamic known from the interaction of open and closed high hats when the first voice is cut off by sending a gate signal to the choke input. The Surface parameter can be used to add a transient click to the beginning of the sound or to extend the attack time of the envelope.
With full voltage control, including a V/Oct input, the Tyso Daiko is a fun, expressive and versatile drum module with a wide range of possible sounds. New wavetables, an additional voice and optimized controls clearly set the Tyso Daiko apart from its predecessor Dinky's Taiko.
