Trivium by Weston Precision Audio — Turn Any VCO Into a Complete Voice
The Trivium by Weston Precision Audio is an all-analog companion voice module that provides everything downstream of an oscillator: a multimode filter, two envelope generators, and a VCA. Developed in collaboration with modular performer and producer Trovarsi, the idea behind Trivium is quite simple — pair it with any oscillator you like, and you've got a complete synth voice without needing to cobble together a bunch of separate modules for the same result. For compact performance racks especially, this kind of consolidation is worth its weight in HP.
The filter is a discrete OTA state-variable design with lowpass, bandpass, and highpass modes, plus controls for cutoff, resonance, and envelope amount. It also comes with two separate envelopes — one ADSR and one AD/AR — and a routing section lets you assign them freely while also determining whether the VCA sits before or after the filter in the signal path. The VCA itself comes equipped with a nice-sounding overdrive section. CV inputs cover both envelope parameters, filter cutoff, resonance, and VCA control, so there's plenty of room to bring the rest of your system into the picture.
This is a well-thought-out companion module for anyone looking to turn their favorite VCO into a proper synth voice!
