Tiptop Audio - Triax8 (ART)

TRIAX8 comes with as many as sixteen analog oscillators — it's an eight-voice dual VCO for Eurorack, built on triangle-core oscillator chips designed by Dave Rossum and controlled via Tiptop's polyphonic ART protocol. You get two VCOs per voice, each with individual waveform level controls — saw, pulse, sub-oscillator on VCO1; saw, pulse, and a gnarly XOR waveform on VCO2. Everything runs simultaneously, mixed right on the panel. The through-zero linear FM between the oscillators keeps tuning intact even when you push the modulation depth hard, and with cross sync (hard and soft, per oscillator), selectable FM source waveforms, and a Fine knob stepping through semitone ratios — the total timbral range is enormous. Flip the voicing switch to Unison and all sixteen VCOs pile onto a single note — that sound alone is worth the price of admission :)

An onboard tuning system learns the thermal behavior of your case and compensates on the fly — a clever bit of engineering for keeping this many analog oscillators in check. Pitch and voice data travel via ART and Polytip connectors, carrying polyphonic CV, gate, and velocity in a single cable. You'll need an ART controller (Octopus or ART V/Oct Quantizer) to drive it, and it slots right into the expanding ART ecosystem alongside Octopass, Octostages, and Octogain. Standard 3.5mm outs for each voice are there too, so conventional patching is fully on the table. If you were ever dreaming about analog polyphony in modular, this is one way to do it!
