The Division Department - 01/IV
- Order number: 190590
The 01/IV is The Division Department's drum machine. Versatility with a straightforward layout and one-knob-per-function!
The 01/IV is a high-quality box with a robust aluminum housing and a fat sound. All four voices share the same layout, multiple integrated tone generators, frequency modulation, multiple modulations, but one thing at a time...
The 01/IV has four voices, all of which have the same four sound generators. There are 2 analog waveforms and two digital noise sources. Furthermore, all four voices have the same parameters to shape your sound. You get volume, tune, decay and filter. There is also a pitch envelope, which you can control with sweep and range.
The switches in the upper section of the voices are responsible for modulation. These allow you to choose from various modulation sources and modulation destinations. Here you can also choose whether your filter is a high-, band- or lowpass filter, as well as what modulates your filter (e.g. the oscillator!).
A special feature of 01/IV is the ability to modulate your voices with each other. You can always modulate 1 and 2 as well as 3 and 4 together in both directions. This allows special and varied results that go far beyond the regular drum synth.
It's easy to create classic, mellow 808 drum sounds, but also crazy FM bells, drones and crazy, constantly changing percussion!
There is no sequencer, because The Division Department lets you choose your own favorite MIDI sequencer. However, the trigger buttons are a nice touch, allowing you to easily audition a voice or quickly perform a few shuffles.
01/IV has a mix output, but also lets you tap your voices individually to process them independently. Reverb on the hihats and a nice dub delay on the snare from time to time? No problem!
01/IV is a magnificent tool that The Division Department has obviously put a lot of effort into! It's great fun to play and will surprise you time and time again.
