Suonobuono's Polyvera — 6-Voice Desktop Hybrid Wavetable/Sampler Polysynth, Early 80s Digital Filth Through Real Analog Filters, Sounds Absolutely Stunning!
Gritty, glassy, alias-rich 6-voice desktop polysynth from Stockholm's Suonobuono — dual wavetable/sampler oscillators running through per-voice analog filters and VCAs, with effects, sequencer, arpeggiator, MPE, and a fat modulation matrix. The oscillators recreate the specific digital artifacts of early 80s wavetable synths and samplers — the sizzle, the crooked pitch-tracking, the metallic alias tones that made instruments like the PPG Wave, Ensoniq Mirage, and Akai S-612 sound so unapologetically alive. Multiple vintage styles per oscillator, from faithful recreations to exaggerated "modded" variants that push the artifacts further than the originals ever went. All of it then shaped by eight analog filter modes built around a European CEM 3320 replica (although it's worth noting that the actual filter circuit is original and not copied from any specific instrument) — lowpass through four pole configurations, highpass, bandpass, peak, and a lowpass with per-voice analog distortion that does acid lines and saturated drones with real conviction. Drive reshapes the resonance character as you push harder, filter FM from Osc2 opens up territory that sits somewhere between sound design and beautiful chaos, and at full resonance the whole thing self-oscillates into a sine you can play melodically.
You can also switch Osc2 into sampler mode and get a single sample spread across the keyboard in that classic 80s way, with vintage playback styles, looping, sample decimation, and direct recording from the stereo input. Load your own .wav wavetables and samples via SD card, or use the extensive factory library spanning acoustic sources, analog tones, Fairlight-era textures, and everything between — amazing! Three envelopes and three LFOs per voice (eight waveforms each, syncable, retriggerable, configurable as common or independent across voices) feed an 8-slot mod matrix that can route sources into destinations you don't usually get on hardware desktop synths — LFO frequency modulating another LFO's level, mod envelope driving effects mix, velocity controlling oscillator shape. The dual serial effects cover chorus, phaser, delay (including a beautifully dirty analog-style delay with aliasing artifacts of its own), bitcrusher, diode distortion, and four reverb types with a character that sits perfectly in the 80s sound world without sounding just like a nostalgia act.
Onwards — 64-step polyphonic sequencer with per-step parameter automation, classic arpeggiator, binaural voicing mode that pans two voices hard left/right per note for massive stereo width, chord mode, configurable oscillator drift from subtle to extreme. 36 knobs and encoders, two OLED displays, on-panel mini keyboard, anodized aluminum case in black or silver. Hand-assembled in small batches. Once you start playing this thing, you just want to keep going deeper. This is the kind of synth that makes you cancel your afternoon plans — or sell a kidney — yeah, it sounds friggin' brilliant :)
