The SSL 2 MKII is a 2-in/2-out USB-C interface that does exactly what you'd hope an SSL-branded box would do: sound clean, feel immediate, and add a touch of that console character when you want it. Two mic/line channels with proper gain range, dedicated high-pass filters, and 48V phantom power — all accessible from the front panel without diving into software menus. The 32-bit/192kHz converters are current generation, and they deliver.
It also comes with a curious Legacy 4K button. It's a subtle analog circuit that adds presence and bite — the kind of thing that makes a vocal sit forward or gives a synth line that "already mixed" quality. Stereo loopback handles streaming and sampling workflows, and the balanced outputs are DC-coupled, opening up possibilities for sending CV to Eurorack gear or other compatible hardware.
