Serge Modular - Variable Resonance Filter (VCFQ)

The Serge Variable Resonance Filter, VCFQ for short, is a multimode circuit with separate outputs for high-pass, band-pass and low-pass as well as notch characteristic. The module features powerful, clearly analog sound. Its resonance is quite sharp. The filter doesn't reach self-oscillation, though. At times, the sound has a slightly metallic touch. – Very classy! Thanks to a trigger input, you can ping the VCFQ very comfortably. Results range from clicking percussion to toms and congas. Making the module sound like a dripping tap is possible as well.

The Serge Variable Resonance Filter comes equipped with two audio inputs. The In connector is followed by an adjustable gain stage. The AGC socket features an automatic level adjustment circuit.

The filter circuit itself offers frequency and resonance potentiometers. In addition, there is a cutoff CV input with bipolar attenuator, a 1v / octave input for pitch tracking and a resonance CV path. On the output side, there are four connectors labeled high, band, low and notch. – Self-explanatory, isn’t it?

An important feature of the Variable Resonance Filter is its trigger input, which can be used to ping the module. Furthermore, a Hi / Lo switch was implemented. While the VCFQ is in the low mode, it can be used for filtering control voltages such as CV sequences. – We guarantee: It’ll make you feel good!
