Rhodes Stage 61 — A More Portable Take on the Iconic Rhodes. Passive circuit, MK8-grade components, jack out, plug in and play.
Rhodes have brought their flagship tine piano back down to a more manageable size with the Stage 61. A 61-note version of the electro-mechanical instrument that has shaped countless records since the 1960s, built using the same tines, pickups, hammer tips and action as their current flagship MK8. The whole thing weighs 26kg and runs entirely without power — a passive circuit with volume and a classic tone control, a single 1/4" jack output, plug in and play.
The appeal is easy to see: an MK8 in a shorter scale and lighter case, without the active electronics or effects. Custom precision-wound alnico pickups sit under steel tines mounted on Baltic birch rails. High-impact ABS hammers with quad-zone tips, aerospace-grade damper combs and wool damper felts handle the action. The case is hand-built tolexed wood with a matte black ABS hood, with external design by Axel Hartmann. The cable-drive sustain pedal comes straight from the MK8 as well.
No speakers, no effects, no MIDI — just an amp or interface and your hands. A focused, road-ready Rhodes for players who want the real thing without the heft of a 73- or 88-note model.
