Oaka Instruments Stereo Pre — Portable Stereo Preamp for Field Recordists and Samplers. Get Your Mics Talking to Line-Level Hardware
Oaka Instruments' Stereo Pre is a small two-channel microphone preamp that brings quiet mic signals up to line level. It was built around Oaka's own microphones and supplies the 15V they run on, but it isn't a closed club — the confirmed list also covers the Shure SM57/SM58, the Rode NT5 condenser and the LOM Geofon contact mic. Plug in a pair, set the gain for each side, and the output is ready for a recorder, sampler, mixer or modular system, with no bulky audio interface needed in between.
A 200Hz low cut on each channel keeps wind rumble and handling thumps out of the recording, which makes it a handy companion for stereo field recording, object-miking, contact-mic experiments and the small acoustic sounds that deserve to be patched into louder machines.
A neat bridge between microphones and the line-level world — light enough to take outside, useful enough to keep on the studio table.
