New Systems Instruments - Triphase Oscillator
- Order number: 230223
- Depth: 25
The Triphase Oscillator from New Systems Instruments lets you explore the deep sounds of phase shifting.
The Triphase is a large oscillator - physically and sonically. Three oscillators, which you can shift in phase, so basically forward or backward in time. This gives you rich and complex sounds reminiscent of chorus, pulse width modulation, or animated supersaw.
However, the complexity within the sounds does not carry over to the parameters of the Triphase. The simple layout gives access to a common frequency parameter for all three of the sawtooth oscillators. Apart from that, there are only individual phase and mix parameters. The mixer is based on a CP3-like mixer, which provides a warm sound and elegant saturation. The mix parameter is bipolar, allowing you to emphasize or cancel frequencies. However, it really gets interesting when you start controlling the parameters with control voltages. Free-running LFOs into the Phase's CV inputs (which have attenuators) and you have a wafting drone with complex harmonics and a stereo-like sound. Lastly, the Triphase oscillator is voice stable over 8 octaves in the v/oct input, has a (hard) sync input and linear frequency modulation.
