New Systems Instruments - Harmonic Shift Oscillator
- Order number: 210141
- Depth: 25
The Harmonic Shift Oscillator from New Systems Instruments is an analog oscillator with precise control of the harmonic and inharmonic spectra it produces.
The Harmonic Shift Oscillator allows separate control of pitch, amplitude and stride (interval between harmonics) via CV or manually. This can be used to create very complex waveforms that sound both harmonic and dissonant. With a strong excursion of the Level parameter, HSO starts to distort wonderfully. With the second output phase-shifted by 90 degrees, you can create very wide and animated drones or achieve stereo effects easily. It is also highly recommended to use the second output for feedback purposes.
The ease of use and the extensive sound character make this oscillator special. Although HSO can be operated very intuitively, reading the extremely well done manual, can be very helpful to learn deeper insights into the underlying synthesis method. For us, the Harmonic Shift Oscillator is one of the most intriguing new analog VCOs lately.
