Neumann NDH 20 — Closed-Back Headphones for Tracking and Mixing
The NDH 20 was Neumann's first headphone, a closed-back design intended for tracking, editing, and mixing in environments where isolation is needed. Many closed-back headphones suffer from midband resonances that make critical decisions difficult — Neumann addressed this with some careful acoustic engineering, resulting in a detailed and balanced sound image that should translate reliably to your speaker playback. The 38mm drivers with high-gauss neodymium magnets deliver high sensitivity and low distortion across a 5Hz–30kHz range.
Sound isolation exceeds 34dB above 4kHz, making the NDH 20 practical for tracking rooms, FOH work, and any situation where bleed is a concern. The circumaural memory foam pads and 150-ohm impedance should make for more comfy listening sessions without fatigue (though you'll want a decent headphone amplifier to drive them properly). Two detachable cables are included (straight and coiled) along with a 6.3mm adapter. The headband is flexible steel, earcups are machined aluminum, and the whole thing folds flat for transport in the included cloth bag. A great set of cans for engineers who need both isolation and reliable monitoring. Available in silver or black.
