Motas-6 from Motas Electronics is kind of a "one of everything" synth: a monophonic three oscillator subtractive synth with triple filter and an insane amount of LFOs and EGs.
The Motas-6, where to begin? This machine offers something you do not come across every day. Here is a machine that gives a fresh perspecitve on the classic three-oscillator monosynth design, blending subtractive analog synthesis with extensive digital modulation control. Crafted by Motas Electronics, a UK-based company founded by Dr. Jon Hayes, the Motas-6 represents the culmination of over two decades of passionate development.
The Motas-6 presents a clear layout with its triple analogue oscillators, a trio of filters, and an extensive digital modulation system. With a 6-pole resonant low-pass, a 4-pole inspired by the classic Roland TB-303, and a 2-pole high-pass, you have a very complete kit of filter-types for tailoring your textures.
What sets this synth apart is the attention to detail and the depth of customization available to the user. With 37 LFOs, each offering 50 waveforms, analogue phase-modulation capabilities, and analogue vector morphing between presets (!), the Motas-6 pushes the boundaries of what your average monosynth can achieve. Its robust build, featuring stainless steel and aluminum, houses a well-thought-out interface that balances tactile knob-per-function accessibility with a "deep" edit-options, modulation- and preset-management (including preset morphing!). All of this is showcased through a its crisp OLED display. There is also a sequencer and arpeggiator both of which add even more options.
We urge you to head over to the Motas webpage to listen to some demos of this instrument. Analog phase modulation means this thing can even whisper the Yamaha language of FM-tones. It is not every day you come across something like this - outside of Eurorack. In fact we struggle to come up with many other monosynth that does what Motas-6 does.
