Bathymeter by Decapod Devices x MEGA Modular – 4-Channel Slider CV Recorder & Looper
Bathymeter is a 4-channel gesture recorder — move the slider, record the movement, play it back. That's the core idea, and it's brilliantly simple.
Each of the four channels captures your slider gestures as CV modulation. Recorded gestures can be looped freely like an LFO, reset via trigger input to behave like an envelope, or synced to an external clock for tight, quantized automation. The speed knob controls playback rate — 12 o'clock plays back at recorded speed, turn right to speed up, left to slow down. In clock mode, speed steps through multiplications and divisions (/8, /4, /2, x2, x4, x8) of the incoming clock. Overdub lets you layer new slider movements on top of existing recordings.
There are nice thoughtful details throughout: a Start bubble lights up when the slider returns to the position where recording began, making seamless loops easier. Quiet Switch mode (hold Clock + press a channel button) lets you switch between channels without accidentally recording. Recordings save to flash memory and recall on boot.
Record wobbly hand-drawn LFOs, sketch envelope shapes, build humanized rhythmic patterns, or just use it as a freeform CV sequencer. The results always carry that unmistakable played-by-a-person feel.
