Fully analog double oscillator with integrated ring modulator based on the MC1496 chip which appears in many vintage synth designs from the 1970's. Cross modulation, linear FM, are all on board. A lot of VCO and a lot of knob on 42HP
The Macbeth X-Series MKII is a fully analog dual-oscillator synthesizer with extensive sound-shaping capabilities. Cross-modulation, linear FM, and a built-in ring modulator based on the MC1496 chip enable complex, powerful sounds. Combined with the Macbeth backend filter, this results in a versatile synthesizer voice with a distinctive character.
Improvements Over the MKI Version
- Greater tuning stability: More carefully selected transistor pairs improve tracking and tuning stability.
- Precise tuning: Multi-turn potentiometers allow for sensitive adjustment and precise tuning.
- High-quality components: Revised components and a more careful selection of capacitors optimize the signal path.
- Expanded oscillator outputs: In addition to sawtooth, square, triangle, and sine waves, each oscillator features two sub-oscillator outputs for particularly powerful sounds.
- Noise generator with mixing function: White and pink noise can be processed via a dual potentiometer and an integrated mixing circuit.
- Proven ring modulator: The balanced modulator based on the MC1496 remains intact.
- Improved connection quality: Redesigned jack sockets increase mechanical reliability and service life.
With 42 TE, the X-Series MKII offers an uncompromising design, both in terms of the user interface and the technology behind it. A must-hear and must-play!
