Staircase is an analog wideband frequency multiplier. The module was designed to generate complex, interacting video patterns
For example, an elliptical gradient can be divided into a series of concentric rings. Camera signals may be drowned in their own brightness. On top of that, it is possible to use Staircase as a VCA, mixer or saw tooth to triangle converter.
To generate a two-dimensional pattern, a vertically locked oscillator has to modulate a horizontally locked oscillator. Staircase offers a different solution: Frequency modulation via non-linear wave shapers. Thanks to this, it is possible to multiply the frequency of a two-dimensional plane rather than a unidimensional one.
The features at a glance:
- Manually adjustable and voltage controllable multiplication of the input frequency. – You can set values ranging from 0 to 32.
- Phase potentiometer and CV input with harmonics selection. In total, 243 different routings are possible.
- Simultaneous output of three different multiplication frequencies.
- All signal and control paths are able to process high frequency, video rate voltages.
- Each CV channel is equipped with an AC/DC switch and an inverting level attenuator.
- Fine tune control for the phase modulation channel.
Staircase is a perfect module for small beginner systems. – It’ll grow with your setup.
