Onde is an acoustic resonator whose operating principle can best be compared to a loudspeaker. The difference is that here the sound is produced in the two soundboards instead of being output via a loudspeaker membrane.
La Voix du Luthier and Haken Audio have designed Onde as a sound refiner for electronic instruments. The design and sound characteristics of Onde, inspired by violin and guitar making, give electronic instruments from theremin to fingerboard to modular synthesizers a high quality sound character, which ideally fits into the spectrum of acoustic instruments. It also provides an immersive spatialization of the sound signals, which leads to a very pleasant playing experience and, with the right miking, to fantastic recording results. Onde can be understood as part of an instrument as well as an effect and is an exciting tool for all those who have high demands on electroacoustic sounds.
