Intellijel's Deceptively Small MEMS Mic 3U – Pocket-Sized Omni With Flat-Response Ready for Sampling Duties
A 2hp omni microphone for Eurorack that’s small enough to hide between patch cables but ready to pull full-size sounds into your system. It uses MEMS technology—the same kind of tiny, flat-response mics found in phones and cameras—so it’s clean, even, and surprisingly wide-band for something this small.
Surprisingly there's even a slider on this tiny module, very velcome :) There's a CV input too that lets you automate it. When patched with CV, the slider works as an attenuator, which means you can ride swells, duck signals, or get rhythmic chops without touching the panel. There’s also a fixed low-cut switch to shave off rumble before it hits your mix.
Patch one for quick sampling, two for stereo field recordings (space them as you choose in your rack for different flavours of stereo), or crank the gain and see how far you can push into feedback territory. Activity and overload LEDs give you a quick read on what’s happening before you commit to the take. One of the cutest eurorack mics around!
Features:
- MEMS omni mic with flat frequency response
- Slider control for output level
- CV input with slider as attenuator
- Stereo use with two modules
- Low-cut switch (180 Hz, 6 dB/oct)
- Activity and overload LEDs
Nerd note: MEMS microphones use a tiny Micro-Electro-Mechanical System mounted on a circuit board and shielded by a mechanical cover. Common in devices like phones, tablets, and cameras, they deliver a remarkably flat response from roughly 6 Hz to 20 kHz—making them well-suited for musical applications despite their small size.
