Floating Knobs Spice — Quadraphonic Wavetable Oscillator with Phase Modulation, Scales, Bitcrushing and More!
Spice is a four-voice wavetable oscillator with four DC-coupled audio/CV inputs and four individual outputs, plus several engines that change how the voices interact with each other. In V/Oct mode they work as four independent oscillators, while Phase mode uses shared pitch control with phase modulation for more intricate timbres. Scale mode quantizes all four oscillators to a chosen scale, making it easy to derive related melodies and harmonies from incoming CV. The first oscillator can also transpose the others together. There is also a Binaural engine for subtle detuning, beating effects and stereo or quad movement.
The four voices share waveform and bit-reduction controls, but can also be edited individually. Spice can move from clean wavetable tones into rougher digital sounds, and custom WAV files can be imported via SD card to create your own wavebanks. The DC-coupled inputs and outputs also invite feedback and cross-modulation, so outputs can be patched back into inputs for more complex interactions.
There's a Performance Mode as well, which adds a miniature four-voice keyboard, envelopes and an integrated looper with internal or external clocking. Spice can also run directly from 5V USB power instead of a Eurorack power supply, making standalone use possible. Altogether, Spice can work as a straightforward quad oscillator, a harmonically linked voice source, or even as a super compact self-contained instrument.
