Erica Synths - EDU DIY System

Erica Synths and Moritz Klein have developed a series of educational DIY kits under the brand name mki x es.EDU with one specific goal in mind: to teach people with little-to-no prior experience how to design analog synthesizer circuits from scratch. What you'll find in the box is not simply meant to be soldered together and then disappear in your rack. Instead, they want to take you through the circuit design process step by step, explaining every choice they've made and how it impacts the finished module.

The EDU DIY System bundles all nine module kits into one package — ten in total, since you get two envelope generators — giving you everything needed to build a fully-featured analog monosynth. All necessary parts are included — modules, case with DIY power supply, and a set of patch cables. You get a VCO, dual VCA, two envelope generators, a sequencer, VCF, mixer, noise/sample & hold, wavefolder, and an output module with headphone amp. Each kit comes with an extensive manual (40+ pages, must be downloaded separately) that dives deep into the electronics and the fundamental principles of sound synthesis — not just assembly instructions, but real education.

The building process for each module starts on a breadboard, where you can experiment and understand what's happening before committing anything to solder. Once you've grasped the theory and tested your circuit, you transfer it to the included PCB and panel. Expect a couple of hours per module for the breadboard stage and another couple for soldering. This system represents many hours of hands-on learning — a proper journey into analog synthesis and circuit design.

Please note: The do-it-yourself kit includes all the parts necessary to build this system. These are beginner/intermediate kits — very little prior experience is needed, just a set of basic hand tools (small screwdriver, soldering iron, etc.). We cannot assist with assembling/soldering the kit and take no responsibility if the kit does not work after self-assembly.
