DOCtron IMC MK2 — Portable Analog Mastering Chain with Shelving EQ, VCA Bus Compressor and Lundahl Transformer Drive, Terrific for Live Sets!
Fully analog mastering chain small enough for carry-on luggage: shelving EQ, THAT VCA bus compression and Lundahl transformer saturation that give a live set or studio mix the weight and level of a finished master.
Developed with Martin Stimming for his computer-free live shows and handbuilt by DOCtron in Germany, it's just as much at home at the end of a studio mix or across a drum bus. Balanced at both ends, it sends your signal through the switchable EQ first, then into the compressor, which flips between feedforward and feedback detection for tighter or softer dynamics. The real work happens in the Drive and Output pair — push the transformer harder, pull the level back down, and the sum comes out denser and louder-sounding, anywhere from subtle glue to the knob position marked "nuts?". Focused, hands-on, and hard to switch off once you've heard your set through it!
