optx gives you eight channels of high-quality Audio/CV inputs and outputs to connect your modular synthesizer to your computer, all that in only 8hp.
Your computer audio interface is probably equipped with one or more pairs of ADAT expansion ports allowing for additional input and output channels. optx is providing multi-channel connections directly to and from eurorack systems, by converting 8-channels of ADAT encoded digital signals at the Rx TOSLINK jack (via lightpipe optical cable) into 8 discrete analog signals; and of course the other way round, converting 8 discrete analog signals at the IN 1-8 jacks, to a 8-channel ADAT encoded digital signal available at the Tx jack. With low power consumption, footprint and only 38mm of depth, the Optx fits into most eurorack cases.
The module's analog outputs are DC-coupled and precisely configured to avoid unwanted DC offset. Audio and CV signals can be sent back and forth between software like Bitwig Studio or Ableton CV Tools and your modular system, making optx a bidirectional interface for control voltages and audio. You can also use optx standalone - both audio and control voltage signals can then be sent back and forth between two optx modules.
- Encodes 8 analog inputs into ADAT Lightpipe
- Decodes ADAT Lightpipe into 8 analog outputs
- DC-coupled Output supports both CV and audio signals
- Selectable 44.1/48 kHz internal sample clock or external sync
- Dual LED indication of output signal strength and polarity
Attention! Contrary to the first announcement, due to the component crisis a different AD converter had to be used in the production of the OPTX. Therefore the inputs are technically no longer DC-coupled: constant input voltages like pitches, S&H, gates and square waves drop to zero when converting to digital signals. This does not affect the outputs or audio signals at the input, and many CV input signals are only moderately affected.
