Sallen-Key is Black Noise Modulars take on the classic MS-20 filter design.
The MS-20 filter is known for its aggressive and snotty resonance, which gives it a raw and powerful sound. Black Noise Modular honors this classic synthesizer with the Sallen-Key filter and packs it into a sleek and contemporary format.
Besides the typical filter parameters, such as cutoff, resonance, and input gain, this version of the circuit adds a crossfader for high- and lowpass. This allows for interesting results that were not possible with the original. Furthermore, the diodes have been replaced by LEDs, partly for visual feedback and also for an altered sonic color of the resonance.
