Benidub FX-ONE — Live Dub FX Unit with Siren, Lickshot, FM Square & Sine, Plus Mic and Spring-Tank Aux. Dub-Deluxe!
Benidub have been building dub sirens, spring amps and echo units for a while now, and the FX-ONE rolls a good chunk of those ideas into one tabletop box. Four sound generators, a mic channel, an aux input and a central echo — all wired up internally, so there's nothing to patch before you start. Power up, hit a trigger, ride the echo. That's the whole idea.
The four generators each have their own character. Dub Siren and Lickshot are the classics you'd hope for, FM Square does square-wave modulation across a wide rate range, and Sonar is a clean sine. Four controls shape each one: Gain for output level, Tune for pitch, Rate for the LFO, and Sweep, a rising envelope on both, so a sound can climb as it plays. Triggers B, C and D are momentary; the first one latches too, for when your hands need to be somewhere else. Every generator feeds the echo at a fixed amount — the wet trail comes along for free.
The echo is where you'll spend most of your time. Filter sweeps low-pass to high-pass with a flat spot in the middle, Feedback piles up the repeats, and grabbing the Delay knob bends pitch the tape way — that familiar wobble mid-phrase. Loop holds whatever's in the buffer and repeats it; Cut drops the output and feedback in an instant — but fret not — internal limiting keeps the feedback from running off on its own. Rounding things out: a mic channel with balanced XLR, always-on soft-knee compression and an anti-pop filter for dynamic mics, plus an aux that switches between line and an external spring tank — if you're aiming for traditional.
A focused box for live FX — sirens, echo and a mic, ready to go without a screen in sight, just dub away -ay -ay -ay...
