The Pony VCO from Befaco is a massive oscillator with Thru-Zero FM, wavefolding and even a VCA.
The only 4hp slim module is a full analog oscillator in Eurorack format. It impresses with very good tuning stability in combination with an interesting feature set. The Pony is capable of Thru-Zero FM, a frequency modulation where the waveform inverts in phase when a negative modulation signal arrives. This allows for tonalities not possible with regular oscillators. Furthermore, the timbre fader (wavefolding) expands the sound spectrum even further and the integrated VCA attenuates everything at the end, which then provides you with a highly usable signal at the output. Lastly, the pony can also gallop very slowly, which in combination with the previous capabilities, gives you highly complex LFO waveforms.
With over a decade of DIY workshops under their belt, Befaco has been one of the first modular synth mainstays of the ever-growing Barcelona modular scene. Their designs are completely open source and never cease to get acclaimed by both newbies and seasoned modularists alike.
