CV-MIDI Interfaces
CV-to-MIDI interfaces convert analog control voltages into MIDI signals. Control Voltage (CV) has been used since the 1960s to control parameters in synthesizers. Voltages are typically between 0 and 10V. Pitch control is almost always standardized as V/Oct, meaning 1V corresponds to one octave. Exceptions like the Hz/Volt standard exist but are rare (e.g., Korg MS-20). These interfaces are perfect for converting the wonderfully complex CV signals of a modular system into MIDI, allowing them to interact with devices that lack CV/Gate capabilities.
