ALM Busy Circuits MCO MKII — Digital Oscillator Multi-talent on a Time Journey Through the 90s and 2000s.
An ALM classic returns in the form of MCO MKII. This new version is fleshed out with a nice display and additional features — it all looks really neat and blends in nicely with the rest of the ALM-lineup.
It comes equipped with seven synthesis engines. While its predecessor was primarily focused on wavetable synthesis, this new iteration expands into a complete multi-voice synthesizer with up to four-note polyphony for each engine plus dual outputs. Its synthesis engines are quite specialized, focusing on specific synthesis types from the 90's and 00's.
The module's seven engines cover significant ground: DigiWave handles wavetable synthesis with user-uploadable tables, ToneSum delivers twelve-operator additive synthesis, BC8000 recreates JP8000-style digital tones, Virtana offers 90s-style virtual analog, Sylon provides vocoder capabilities, Oomph specializes in bass and kicks, and there's even a complete SID chip emulation. That's a pretty wild mix of synthesis options for a single module.
Navigation happens through a nice bright color display and a single encoder, with three CV inputs available for parameter modulation. The USB-C port allows for firmware updates and custom wavetable uploads, while compatibility with ALM's Axon expanders provides additional CV control options. If you're looking for an excellent digital VCO in 6HP, MCO MKII could be exactly what you're looking for!
