ADDAC127 Ebow Slider — Movable Electromagnetic Exciter for the ADDAC120 Four Strings Series
The ADDAC127 brings an Ebow to ADDAC's Four Strings System, using a sliding mechanism that lets you move it along beneath the strings. Instead of plucking them, the Ebow uses electromagnetic energy to keep a string vibrating, producing sustained tones that change as you move it to different positions along the instrument.
The included Ebow has been modified using the PianoBow approach, with its feet removed so it can get closer to the strings without touching them. Four thumbscrews let you adjust its height, and the Ebow can also be removed from the slider for handheld use. A rather nice way to explore sustained notes, harmonics and the physical behavior of vibrating strings.
Features:
- Sliding Ebow mechanism for the ADDAC120 Four Strings Series
- Electromagnetic excitation for sustained string vibrations
- Ebow included with PianoBow modification
- Adjustable height via four thumbscrews
- Ebow removable for handheld use
- Passive mechanical slider
- Requires a 9 V battery for the Ebow (not included)
About the ADDAC 120-Series
The 120-Series brings real vibrating strings into Eurorack, crossing the worlds of modular synthesis and electro-acoustic instruments. Its four strings form a customizable instrument somewhere between a lap steel guitar, a zither and an automated string machine. The headstock and bridge form the foundation, while additional modules capture the sound, mechanically pluck or mute the strings, excite them magnetically, add frets or even turn the strings into a physical audio resonator. Combined with Eurorack sequencing, CV and effects, you can build anything from a manually played instrument to a fully automated string setup.
