ADDAC125 Strings Mute — Servo-Controlled String Damping for the ADDAC120 Four Strings Series
Inspired by the mechanical mute systems found on certain Fender Jaguar and Bass VI guitars, the ADDAC125 uses a small servo motor to raise and lower a piece of foam against the strings. This lightly dampens their vibrations, changing the sustain and overall character of the sound. It's a subtler effect than a conventional palm mute, and one that can be automated.
The module is controlled through an ADDAC124 Plectrums module rather than having its own trigger inputs. You can replace one of the plectrum servos with the mute, or use the included splitter cable to make both operate together. The foam height is adjustable, and ADDAC recommends positioning the module close to the headstock for the most effective damping.
Features:
- Motorized string mute for the ADDAC120 Four Strings Series
- Servo-operated foam damping mechanism
- Adjustable foam height
- Controlled via the ADDAC124 Plectrums module
- Can replace or operate alongside a plectrum servo
- Splitter cable included
- Inspired by mechanical guitar mute systems
- Requires ADDAC124 for operation
About the ADDAC 120-Series
The 120-Series brings real vibrating strings into Eurorack, crossing the worlds of modular synthesis and electro-acoustic instruments. Its four strings form a customizable instrument somewhere between a lap steel guitar, a zither and an automated string machine. The headstock and bridge form the foundation, while additional modules capture the sound, mechanically pluck or mute the strings, excite them magnetically, add frets or even turn the strings into a physical audio resonator. Combined with Eurorack sequencing, CV and effects, you can build anything from a manually played instrument to a fully automated string setup.
