Zlob Modular VnIcursal VCA — Compact Six-Channel VCA and Mixer
Every patch could eventually use another VCA, but rack space is a finite resource. The VnIcursal VCA from Zlob Modular addresses this dilemma with impressive density, packing six independent linear VCAs into 8hp. With its six channels all being normalled to a master output, it also serves as a powerful and compact voltage-controlled mixer.
Each channel has its own dedicated output, allowing you to easily pull a voice out from the main mix for separate processing. The potentiometers set the initial gain, but cleverly switch to function as attenuators once a CV signal is patched in, giving you precise hands-on control over your dynamics. The design is based on classic OTA chips, providing a clean, DC-coupled response that works equally well for audio and CV signals. The VnIcursal is a simple mix utility, but provides a lot of functionality in a minimum of space.
Features:
- Six-channel VCA and voltage-controlled mixer
- OTA(LM13700)-based linear, DC-coupled VCAs
- Works with both audio and CV signals
- Individual outputs normalled to a summed mix output
- Potentiometers function as either gain controls or CV attenuators
- LED indicators for visual feedback on gain level
- Reverse power protection
Note: Version 666 introduces a couple of new updates, including an internal design that now uses mostly resistor arrays. This revision also features reduced signal bleed and crosstalk and all-red LEDs.
