The Waldorf Crema combines classic string machine sounds with modern synthesis techniques and flexible layering options. Its two sound generators, Texture and Lines, can be played independently or combined to create multi-layered sounds. The spectrum ranges from the characteristic string sounds of the Waldorf Streichfett to wavetable and FM sounds, all the way to virtual analog synthesizer sounds.
The Texture engine combines three different synthesis methods: In addition to the fully polyphonic string section of the Streichfett, wavetable and FM synthesis are available. Lines is based on the Streichfett’s Solo Engine and generates virtual analog sounds using two detunable oscillators. Both engines can be layered on top of each other or split by keyboard range or MIDI channel. This allows you to create unique sound combinations and complex arrangements directly within the instrument.
An arpeggiator, step sequencer, and an extensive effects section provide additional movement. Two effects slots offer various modulation effects as well as reverb and shimmer, which can be connected in series or in parallel. MPE support, MIDI CC Learn, and the separate assignment of the arpeggiator and sequencer to the two engines also make Crema a versatile instrument for live performance.
