Teenage Engineering is back with a fresh coat of paint — the EP-40 RIDDIM SUPERTONE puts the proven K.O. II-style sampling workflow into a reggae/dancehall outfit, with grid-synced loops, dub-friendly FX, and a sound pack curated with iconic producers. It’s a fast sketchpad brimming with rough-and-ready sound system energy, all packaged as a tidy little desktop beat-lab.
Under the hood, EP-40 keeps the familiar EP groovebox DNA (pads, fader performance/automation, punch-in tricks, quick arranging), but it also pushes beyond the earlier versions in a couple of key ways. The Supertone synth engine brings 10 internal “machines” for subtractive bass, leads, and dub sirens, and the 128 MB user-writable memory is double the KO II — and unlike the Medieval edition, the full space is open for your own samples. Same instant-gratification approach, more room to make it your instrument.
The EP-40 offers the same fast hands-on workflow as TE's earlier versions — just tuned for some hefty bass, sirens, and quick-fire edits. Load it up with your own samples, ride the fader, and you’ve got a compact sound system in sketchpad form.
