Teenage Engineering is back with a fresh coat of paint — the EP-40 RIDDIM SUPERTONE puts the proven K.O. II sampling engine into a reggae/dancehall outfit—complete with grid-synced loops, dub-friendly FX, and a sound pack curated with iconic producers. The Launch Bundle also adds Ting, a tiny handheld mic/effects toy that begs to be yelled into, shaken, and immediately sampled. Individually, they’re fun — together, they’re a portable party and a very capable sketchpad.

Under the hood, RIDDIM SUPERTONE is essentially a re-skinned EP-133 K.O. II: velocity-sensitive pads, the multifunction fader for automation, punch-in tricks, and a sequencer that moves from quick ideas to full arrangements in a jiffy. Feed Ting straight into EP-40, grab a shout, a siren, or a lo-fi chant, slice it, and drop it into a scene. It’s not about hi-fi perfection — this combo leans into character and immediacy — i.e., street sound system on the weekend, tidy desktop beat-lab on Monday.

If you liked the “medieval” EP-1320 spin on K.O. II, this is the sunny sound-system cousin. Same brain, new vibe, and a mic that actively encourages bad behavior—in the best possible sense!
