Cadrans by Syntonie — Triple VCA / Crossfader / Four Quadrant Multiplier
Cadrans, French for "dials," is a module from Syntonie that houses three identical signal processors in one panel. Each channel offers voltage-controlled amplitude adjustment and a mode switch that alters its behavior from VCA to signal multiplier.
In VCA/XFADE mode, each channel works as a standard voltage-controlled amplifier. Signals through IN1 fade to black (0V), while IN2 fades to white (+1V). With both inputs active, the channel transforms into a crossfader, creating smooth transitions between sources.
The 4Q BI and 4Q UNI modes turn each channel into a four-quadrant multiplier, similar to an attenuverter. The 4Q BI mode handles bipolar signals and can push outputs below black level, creating faster fades. 4Q UNI keeps everything within standard video range, with inversions centered at grey level.
The channels can work together or independently - two channels might process horizontal and vertical signals while the third crossfades between them to generate shapes.
Features:
- Three processing channels
- Manual amplitude control
- CV inputs with attenuverters

- Dual inputs per channel
- Independent channel operation
- RGB signal processing capability
- 2D shape generation possible
- Built-in crossfading functionality
- Center-detented controls
