Oberheim TEO-5 Desktop — The Classic Oberheim Sound, Now Available as a Compact and More Affordable Module Version
For those who've been dreaming of that legendary Oberheim sound but don't need another keyboard taking up precious studio space, the TEO-5 Desktop is the answer. It omits the keys and modulation wheels of the original and significantly shrinks its size.
Thomas Elroy Oberheim (TEO) continues his legacy with this desktop module. It features the same filter circuitry from the iconic 1974 Synthesizer Expander Module (SEM) and sports that beloved blue-striped finish familiar from his older synths.
Like its keyboard sibling, the TEO-5 Desktop features several modern enhancements. It comes with built-in digital effects like chorus, delay, reverb, and phaser. According to Tom, these are "spot-on emulations of the original Oberheim phase shifter and ring modulator".
The module retains the same powerful oscillator and filter section that defines the Oberheim character, but obviously, now in an even more compact form-factor.
All the features that made the TEO-5 keyboard great are here: the modern take on Oscillator X-Mod (with through-zero FM, a first for Oberheim), the 64-step sequencer, and the multi-mode arpeggiator. Also included is the inspiring collection of presets which let you quickly access those great Oberheim sounds without diving into endless menus.
For an Oberheim, this remains incredibly affordable, bringing that classic sound to producers and musicians who prefer working with external controllers or DAWs. The module version of the TEO-5 packs that impressive Oberheim personality and all those beautiful sounds into a desktop-friendly package, making that classic sound more accessible than ever before.
