A truly unique instrument returns to us with the Eowave Metallik Resonator.
Maurice Martenot's design, created in the '30s, is now made available for the second time by Eowave. An electroacoustic resonator consisting of a 50cm gong which is vibrated by an exciter. The amplifier used accepts whatever you feed it! It sounds wonderfully full, no matter if you play it with soft guitar or noisy Eurorack signals.
Anyone who has ever struck a gong knows that they produce long resonances. Because of the diameter, this one has a fundamental that can be used to quickly create beautiful harmonies or extreme dissonance. Everything sounds very metallic and if desired it is not difficult to distort your signals. Lastly, of course, don't forget that with all electroacoustic instruments, it is always possible to physically interfere with the sound.
The Metallik Resonator despite its size is not loud. For live performances, you will definitely need to mic the gong and amplify it. Also, in the studio, you will have to use microphones to record the resulting sounds. However, this only invites more experimentation, as of course, each microphone has its own sound characteristics.
An outstanding instrument for morning morning meditation and evening sound design escapades.
