Analogue Systems - French Connection
- Order number: 120269
The French Connection combines a conventionel keyboard with other controllers line a string-guided glissando ring á la Ondes Martenot, then a wooden pressure-sensitive button and finally a joystick. The unit produces exclusively control voltages and gates, its enclosure is made of finest walnut wood.
Based upon the very early electronic instrument Ondes Martenot the French Connection is a unique keyboard and perfomance controller.
The French Connenction adopts the control mechanisms of the Ondes Martenot but instead of sound generators it offers several CV, Gate and Trigger outputs to control modular synthesizers.
By placing a finger through the ring suspended below the physical keyboard, the player can glide smoothly between notes by moving the playing hand from left to right, creating a very natural vibrato in the process, while a pressure resistant wooden button offers great control of the amplitude. A VCO and VCA is basically all it takes to recreate a sound similar to the Ondes Martenot. But of course the CVs the French Connection is supplying can be routed to any other parameter in a modular synthesizer as well. Additionally there's a joystick to offer even more control and the 49 note keyboard also adds CV/Gate and Trigger outputs.

The French Connection @Analogue Systems
Starting almost in parallel with Doepfer, Bob Williams established back in 1998 his own modular system with fine circuits reminiscent of the British tradition initiated with EMS in the 1970s. Despite offering initially a different power connector and panel width standard (which left a 1,5HP gap), all modules bearing the "N" on their names are adapted to work seamlessly with most eurorack cases. Still, it is worth checking the depth of your case.
