Syntonie Matrice — Video Matrix Mixer with Built-In Triple VCA and Clever Normalisations for RGB Colour Work
Syntonie’s Matrice is a 1x3 matrix mixer with a triple VCA sitting directly behind it. In practical terms, it lets you send three input signals to three outputs in any combination, then control the resulting levels manually or with CV. In an RGB video patch, that means quick access to colour mixing, channel inversion and contrast control before the signal hits an RGB encoder.
It comes with some clever normalisations as well. A single monochrome source patched into input 1 can feed all three matrix inputs, making it easy to colourise shapes, keys or posterised material without extra multiples. The matrix outputs are normalled into the VCAs, so the usual workflow is already patched internally, but both sections can still be used separately when needed.
The PRE and POST inversion switches add a lot of room for shifting palettes and luma behaviour, while the VCA section works as a handy fade-to-black stage for taming bright or heavily mixed signals. A practical colour-shaping hub for video modular systems — especially when a simple source needs to become something more than just black and white.
Features:
- 1x3 matrix mixer with three inputs and three outputs
- Dedicated attenuator for every input/output pair
- Matrix outputs normalled to three VCA inputs
- Triple VCA section for manual or CV-controlled amplitude / contrast
- VCA knobs work as attenuators without CV, and as attenuverters when CV is patched
- PRE and POST inversion switches for signal polarity control
- Matrix inputs normalised 1 → 2 → 3 for easy mono-to-RGB colourisation
- VCA CV inputs normalised A → B → C for global contrast control from one CV
- Matrix and VCA sections can be used independently
- Matrix section can output signals up to 3V
- Eurorack 16-pin power or DC barrel connector
