Rides In The Storm BOC MK2 — Discrete Analog VCO/LFO with Four Sub-Oscillator Outputs at Musical Intervals, Wavefolder and an XOR-Driven Gravity Output
BOC MK2 by Rides In The Storm is a discrete analog VCO/LFO with classic waveform outputs, a wavefolder, four sub-oscillator outputs at musical intervals and a surprisingly lively modulation section. It covers the familiar analog basics — sine, triangle, ramp and pulse — but spreads out quickly once the subs, FM inputs and sync options get involved. The tracking is designed to be stable, the tuning range is wide, and a switchable LFO mode lets it drop into modulation duties when needed.
The sub-oscillator section is the part that gives BOC MK2 much of its character. It offers four separate sub outputs: 2/3, 3/4, 1/2 and 1/4. That means you get fifth- and fourth-below divisions alongside its one- and two-octave-down, with the 1/2 and 1/4 outputs offering selectable pulse, saw and triangle shapes. The Gravity output then combines the triangle wave with the 3/4 sub through XOR logic — a nice rough edge for bass lines, pseudo-ringmod tones and animated low-end weight.
For movement, there is linear and exponential FM with attenuators, PWM for the main oscillator and octave subs, CV control over the wavefolder and voltage-controlled soft sync alongside reset sync. It is a practical main oscillator when you want classic analog waveforms, heavier sub material and a few extra ways to bend the tone without turning the patch into an intricate science project.
