Make Noise - Strega
- Order number: 210059
Make Noise Strega is a powerful, semi-modular desktop synth/FX unit whose unique approach was developed together with Alessandro Cortini.
The Make Noise offspring comes in the familiar form factor of 0-Coast and 0-CTRL, to which it is also fully compatible on the input/output side (just like Eurorack systems). It loves to be used not only as an independent sound generator but also as a modulation source and/or effects unit. The semi-modular device was developed in collaboration with Nine Inch Nails member Alessandro Cortini. His drony signature sound can of course be created with Strega, as well as many other timbres. It's not just the "otherworldy" department that will shine with Strega, as an external controller will provide you with access to more stable, melodic themes. The combination possibilities with Eurorack are naturally infinite and as an effects unit, the "witch" also knows how to cook her magic soup.
On the left side of the device you will find a preamp, envelope follower and audio send control for the integration of external sounds. The internal sound generation relies on the controls Tones, Activation and Frequency of which the last two can be destabilized via the Interference Generator. This way, besides the mentioned "heavy drones" and wild chaotic noise, e.g. also wobbling textures with tape-hiss etc. can be generated, an extremely rich field of sound. In the Time /Filter Experiment section the sounds from internal sound generation and external sources then weld into each other. Metallic mysteries, distant hiss, building echoes, reverberating shadows of the past - the DNA of Strega. With the agitation generator, the timing is broken up and dissected, and the widely scattered components are then gathered up again and reassembled into a whole, almost like the "Liquid T-1000" scene from Terminator 2.
On the surface of Strega, experimental ghosts can truly be brought to life, and through tactility, new worlds of sound can be opened up that would not have been accessible at all without the inclusion of one's own fingers as part of the sound generation. Electricity flows beneath the surface of the sturdy steel case, driving the sound creation in ever new, exciting and unexpected directions - A dialogue of sonic power.

Already interested in electronics at the early age of 12, Tony Rolando learned everything about circuits and musical instrument design by himself. He worked for Moog Music for a while and some sabbatical years, he founded Make Noise in 2008 in Asheville, North Carolina. By now, his reinterpretation of the Serge DUSG, Maths, is probably the most ubiquitous module in the eurorack universe ever. Make Noise continues to surprise with new and inspiring modules, including collaborations with Tom Erbe of Soundhack.
