ALM Busy Circuits Squid Salmple is an 8-channel audio and CV sampler with hands-on operation and a unique, well-chosen library of samples.
Can't find the floppy disks of your last project anymore or does the MO-Drive heat up your studio mercilessly? Is your Akai sampler even broken? That's where Squid Salmple comes in, reproducing the mid-90s bedroom studio lifestyle. Paired with Pamela's New Workout and MUM M8 filter and you’re heading into S950-territory;) In the blink of an eye, you can sample, edit, and put it through the wringer. The record input supports both audio and CV signals, handling both line and Eurorack levels. Per channel, for example, bit depth, rate , amplitude (with simple envelope), looping, playback direction or start, end and loop cue position of a 16bit/44 KHz mono sample up to eleven seconds long are editable in real time. In addition, there is 1V/oct pitch control of channels 6, 7 and 8 as well as 8 independent trigger inputs.
Sample editing is done via the clearly arranged controls, the eight output channels are distributed over 4 DC-coupled output jacks (2 channels per jack), and there is also an AC-coupled mix out. A display provides feedback during editing and is extremely useful when organizing samples, which are housed on an included USB flash drive that inserts onto the Squid Salmple surface (USB 2.0 compatibility required, please follow USB stick recommendations in the manual and do not connect any other devices to the USB jack). As a sample treat, a USB stick is included that contains nearly 100 banks of carefully selected royalty-free samples, ranging from classic drum machines, obscure synths and field recordings to CV modulations. When selecting the devices, great care was taken to include x0x classics as well as rarer sounds from boxes like Roland R70, R8 and Alpha Juno, Boss DR-110, MFB 522, Kawai R50e, Yamaha RX5 or Casio RZ1. Among them are banks of friendly artists like Mumdance, Solid Blake, Russell Haswell, Lauren Flax, Dave Burraston (NYZ), Sue Zuki, Dungeon Acid, Sasha Lewis and Andrew Duff.
