Winterbloom - Castor & Pollux
- Order number: 210172
- Depth: 25
Winterbloom's Castor & Pollux is a twin oscillator based on the circuits of the Roland Juno-106 from 1984.
Castor (Osc 1) and Pollux (Osc 2) can be used independently, but when used in tandem - that is where they shine. Their sound is strongly reminiscent of the Juno-106 indeed. Like the latter, Castor and Pollux are Digitally Controlled Oscillators (DCOs), i.e. analog oscillators whose frequency is controlled and kept stable by a microprocessor.
There is a pitch and PWM input per oscillator, as well as individual outputs. Also integrated is a waveform mixer (pulse, ramp and sub!) per osc, as well as a crossfader for combining both oscs. To further intertwine them, Castor can also synchronize Pollux and an internal LFO provides slight detuning... which (again) is very reminiscent of the Juno Chorus sound.
